Academic Excellence
St. Gabriel School follows the curriculum set by the Office of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Cleveland and approved by the State of Ohio Department of Education. It is based on and exceeds all State of Ohio Academic Content Standards and standards of various professional education associations. In addition, special emphasis is placed on the infusion of our Catholic identity, the social justice teachings, and the rights of children into our curriculum. We are accredited by the Ohio Catholic Schools Accreditation Association (OCSAA) and the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).
Curriculum The curriculum of all subjects taught at St. Gabriel School follows the Graded Course of Studies Curriculum Guides set forth by the Office of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Cleveland. All textbooks and instructional materials are selected so as to support the Graded Course of Studies. Curriculum Parent Handbooks for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade are distributed at the start of the school year. These booklets describe the major skills and concepts to be presented and developed and present an overview of the major learning objectives of each subject. Common Core StandardsThe Cleveland Diocese Office of Catechetical Formation and Education prepared four informational documents on the Common Core Standards. These documents are being used and circulated, along with other venues such as educational professional development workshops to train and support all Cleveland Catholic school educators in successful implementation of the Common Core Standards. Parents will find them informative and able to answer a variety of questions. Please see the links below:

Art Programs
St. Gabriel School has a strong belief in the philosophy of education of the whole child, in which the fine and performing arts are a vital part. To supplement the core curriculum subjects, students weekly attend classes in General Arts and General Music. Student art shows, musical performances and plays are among highlights of the school year. Band is offered from 4th grade through 8th grade and is highlighted by two school band concerts and a trip by our 8th grade Jazz Band to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to perform.
