Scholarships


St. Gabriel Parish places a high importance on the value of Catholic education. Through the generous efforts of St. Gabriel staff members, parishioners, and sponsors we are pleased to offer scholarships in support of Catholic elementary and secondary education so that our young people may experience full immersion in a Christ-centered educational atmosphere.

Scholarship applications for 2020-2021 are below. Please keep in mind that due to mandated closings, awards may be delayed. Thank you for your patience.

Reverend Father Robert Pahler Scholarship
This scholarship honors the former pastor of St. Gabriel Parish and assists an eighth-grade student, whether at in the day school or PSR program, who will attend a Catholic high school.  The scholarship is awarded in the amount of $500 to a student who demonstrates academic effort, commitment, performance, parish and community involvement, and financial need.  The scholarship is awarded at the eighth-grade graduation ceremony.

Faculty Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created by the St. Gabriel faculty in memory of colleagues who have passed away to assist an eighth-grade student who will attend a Catholic high school. The scholarship is awarded in the amount of $500 to a student who demonstrates academic effort, commitment, performance, and parish and community involvement.  The scholarship is awarded at the eighth-grade graduation ceremony.

The Matthew J. Pohovey Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Kim and Mark Pohovey's  to preserve their son’s memory to assist families with genuine financial need.  This scholarship is awarded to a kindergarten family in the amount of one-eighth of the annual cost of tuition and is renewed annually until the eighth-grade graduation of the child. The scholarship is awarded at the kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Catholic War Veterans Scholarship Information :  please see pending note below
The Catholic War Veterans, John Paul II Post 1959, Lake County, Ohio, in the interest of furthering the education of Catholic students, has by vote of the membership, established
The GEORGE ROTH SCHOLARSHIP tuition assistance program consisting of one  five hundred ($500.00) scholarship at St. Gabriel School. This amount will be  affected by the pandemic as fundraising efforts are impacted. Applicants are encouraged to apply, but funds may not be available, delayed and or reduced.
