Bus Transportation & Car Rider Pick UpBus transportation to and from St. Gabriel School is provided by both the Riverside Board of Education and the Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education.
Under Ohio law (ORC 3327.05), the Mentor Board of Education cannot transport a Riverside student to a Mentor address without a written release from the Riverside Board of Education. Likewise, Riverside cannot transport a Mentor student to a Riverside address without written release from the Mentor Board of Education. It is the parents' responsibility to make the necessary arrangements when such a need arises. Morning Procedure All cars and buses enter by the driveway between the school and church. Buses drop children off at the main entrance of the school building. Car riders enter and pass main entrance, pass playground, proceed to the right, pass kindergarten hall, and proceed down to the car rider door on the right hand side. Please have children exit the right hand side only. Staff are on duty at all entrances for safe arrival. Afternoon Procedure Buses arrive and park in the coned off area of the parking lot. Students are dismissed to the buses through the Main Office entrance doors and the Multipurpose Room entrance doors. Parents picking up students must enter by the driveway between the school and church, park ONLY IN THE AREA OF THE LOT THAT IS OUTSIDE THE CONES, and then remain in their cars. After buses are cleared from the area inside the cones, parents will be permitted in the building to pick up their child from their designated door (see below). Picture ID or Family ID # is required for pick up. Teacher individually check students out of their classrooms. In order for a quick and safe dismissal, please see the map and alphabetical door assignments for pick up. After the buses leave, parents will proceed in line to their designated door.
