Technology

St. Gabriel School strives to prepare students for tomorrow’s opportunities and challenges through the use of cutting-edge technology.

The technology infrastructure consists of a fully networked school, both wired and wireless.  Our Innovation Center has 3-D printers, robotics, virtual reality equipment,  and many STEM learning opportunities for coding.  Students in Jr K-Grade 8 have 1:1 personal devices issued to them for school and home use. Each classroom is also equipped with interactive ACTIV panels and amplification systems.  Google Apps for Education and Microsoft Office are taught and used.

Teachers are continually acquiring professional development and training in technology. All teachers have ACTIV panels, student response systems, Google Apps for Education, and all devices available for use in the building. The Student Information System, FACTS,  provides a student database, online grade books, and enhanced communications between home and school.

Curriculum

The curriculum of all subjects taught at St. Gabriel School follows the Ohio Department of Education standards as well as the standards set forth by the Office of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Cleveland. All textbooks and instructional materials are selected to support the standards.

Common Core

The Cleveland Diocese Office of Catechetical Formation and Education prepared four informational documents on the Common Core Standards. These documents are being used and circulated, along with other venues such as educational professional development workshops to train and support all Cleveland Catholic school educators in successful implementation of the Common Core Standards. Parents will find them informative and able to answer a variety of questions. Please see the links below:

Related Arts

St. Gabriel School has a strong belief in the philosophy of education of the whole child, in which the fine and performing arts are a vital part. To supplement the core curriculum subjects, students weekly attend classes in General Arts and General Music. Student art shows, musical performances and plays are among highlights of the school year. Band is offered from 4th grade through 8th grade and is highlighted by two school band concerts.

Standardized Tests

The testing program for schools within the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is designed to serve and assist teachers and administrators in a systematic evaluation of the curriculum and planning of instruction. Additional individual standardized testing programs are also used in some grades to determine how best to meet students’ needs in specific areas.
